Rock Monitor-lizard Varanus 

A member of the same family (Varanidae) as the heaviest living lizard, the famour Komodo dragon from Indonesia and most probably the largest reptile on Kuzikus.







Leopard Tortoise Geochelone pardalis
 
The Leopard tortoise is the forth largest species of tortoise and adults can weigh up to 18kg. They can climb as their toenails provide a secure grip. These tortoise can stay under water for some time. 





    Puffadder Bitis arietans

The Puffadder relies on camouflage for protection. It is rather a shy species and hisses loudly when distrubed. When it adopts a coiled posture (S-shaped) then it is able to strike readily and fast. The snake has a deadly bite. It is mainly terrestrial, but can swim and climnb trees (though rarely seen). Large specimens can be over 180m long and weigh about 6 kg! The puffadder is common in Kuzikus.
