A Herpetology expedition

Reptiles are excellent habitat indicators and very susceptible to its variations. In southern Africa, there are nearly 400 species of reptiles, including large monitor lizards, agamas and geckos. More than half of them are endemic to the subcontinent whilce for many others southern Africa represents their largest range.

This study aims to provide a first assessment of the diversity of small reptiles occuring in Kuzikus wildlife reserve. During this study you, as a BRinK research volunteer, will trap various reptiles using different methods. Moreover, a vegetation study will be carried out as vegetation may have an influence on species and individual abundance. You will also the chance to investigate small and large reptiles by tracking and observations.
