Reading the signs of the bush - a useful tool for wildlife biologists

Tracking skills are an important and effective way to monitor populations of mammals, reptiles and birds in wildlife biology. You will have the chance to learn and read animal sign and investigate their trails.

As a research volunteer on the BRinK tracking skills programme, you will learn how to identify an animal by the tracks and droppings it left, how to investigate its behaviour and even tell age and sex. As part of the programme you will also get the opportunity to use distance sampling techniques to spot large mammals along a transect using specialist equipment.

Apply and propose your ideas of a tracking programme!
